AGOGO STATE COLLEGE

1. VISION

The vision of the school is to create Agogo State Senior High School as a centre of academic excellence, moral rectitude and social discipline.

2. MISSION
The school’s mission is to provide requisite knowledge, skills, values and aptitudes to all students who pass through the school, through dedicated teaching and sound religious and moral instructions that will help them to develop their potentials that will enable them pursue further courses and contribute effectively towards the socio-economic development of their community in particular and the whole nation as a whole.

3. SCHOOL MOTTO
The school Motto is inscribed beneath the Crest in Latin “Domini Nisi Frustra” which translates as “with God nothing is impossible”. This extract from Mark 10 vs 27 refers to the Omnipotence of God in all human undertakings. Conscious efforts are therefore made to imbibe in the students the strong belief in God. With God problems and challenges can be surmounted.

4. BRIEF HISTORY
Agogo State Senior High School popularly known as Agogo State College was established as a private institution in 1963 by Nana Kwakye Tutu. It started in a temporary premises with 24 day scholars and 4 scholars in the hostel.
The Presbyterian, Church showed an interest in its establishment and the school was to be an experiment in cooperation between the Church and the State.
Nana Kwaku Duah, Omanhene of Agogo Traditional Area at that time played a very significant role in its establishment and also donated vast acres of land on which the school is currently sited.
The school is strategically situated on a hill top which gives it very beautiful scenery with the trees and flowers around. The land breeze is quite superb. Students are therefore urged to take advantage of this serene atmosphere to study hard.

5. ACHIEVEMENT
The school has chalked successes over the years. The academic performance of the students keeps on improving from year to year. While the school scored hundred percent in the 2008 WASSCE results with 6-8 passes recording 52.40%, the school scored 100% in the 2009 WASSCE results and recorded 97.73% in 6-8 passes. Out of 17 subjects offered at the school, 100% was recorded in 13 of these subjects.
The school placed first in the Regional Constitution Games in 2004 and 2005. The school again won the Regional Competition in 2008 and placed 5th in the National Competition held in Accra in 2008.
The school placed first in the National Environmental and Sanitation Week Quiz-Competition held at GBC Studio in Accra in 2007.
Again, the school placed 6th in the Regional ICT Competition held at the Great Hall, KNUST on 20th October 2007.
Sports
Agogo State Senior High School has been actively participating in all sporting activities organized by the Ghana Education Service. .
Football
2008 – Zonal Champion in the boys division.
2009 – Zonal Champion in the boys division.
Table Tennis
2006 – Placed 2nd in the zone and represented the Region in the boys division.
2007 – Zonal champion in both boys and girls division.
2008 – Zonal champion in both boys and girls division. .
Athletics
The school is making steady progress in the field of athletics and all efforts are being made to qualify for the Super-Zonal competition in 2010.
Cross Country
During the 2009 competition the first girl from State placed 12th out of 270 competitors and the first boy also placed 23rd out of 354 athletes.

6. SCHOOL FACILITIES
The school is a mixed institution. The total enrolment as at the end of the first term 2009 is 1500. The school provides facilities for both boarders and day students. The school boasts of a three storey 15-Unit Classroom block and two 8-Unit Classroom blocks. There is a 3-Unit Classroom block which houses the three traditional laboratories, that is Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The school also has a well-furnished and air-conditioned Computer Laboratory. The Computer Laboratory is hooked to the Internet.
A two-storey block which serves as the Administration block also houses the Library and the Staff Common Room. Part of the ground floor of the Administration block is also used as a dormitory block for the boys to ease congestion at the boys’ dormitory.
The ground floor of the uncompleted 2 storey dormitory block is also used as the boys’ dormitory. There is also a 2-storey Dormitory block for the girls and another 2-storey Girls Dormitory block under construction to ease congestion at the girls’ dormitory.
There is adequate supply of textbooks for all the courses run in the school at the bookshop. New entrants are also urged to procure some textbooks to augment and supplement what is supplied in the school.
Apart from the academic activities held in the school, other non-academic activities are also held. Towards that end, there is a big field in the school where sporting activities and other functions are held.

8. CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITY
Religious Activities
The schools is non-denominational and allows students to practice their religion according to their faith.
Entertainment
The entertainment programmes consist of jams, Debates, What do you know, Fashion Show, Treasure hunt, Pick and Act, Variety Show, Gospel Rock Show and many more.
Cadet Corps
The school boasts of a well-drilled and first class Army Cadet Corps which has been winning a lot of Regional Competitions.
