ESTIABLISHED: 2000/1 ACADEMIC YEAR.
- BRIEF HISTORY
T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior high school was born on the 15th October 2000. It is the fruit and initiative of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat in Wa in particular and Ghana at large. The Wa jamaat had for a longtime dreamt of starting a new secondary school in the Upper West Region to augment government effort to provide secondary Education for the largely deprived Northern Regions of the country. In October 2000. Allah, the Almighty answered the prayer of the Ahmadiyya jamaat. The school started with an initial intake of sixty –five students (65), forty (40) boys and twenty –five girls (25) .
The school is in its tenth year and now government assisted. It has a student population of five hundred and seven (507) students. Three hundred and eighteen are boys (318) and one hundred and eighty nine are girls (189).
- MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS:
The first major achievement was to qualify for absorption in to the public system within the time frame of three years it had set for itself.
Secondly, though the first batch of students admitted had a BECE best aggregate of twenty-four (24), the SSSCE result of this first batch is ninety-eight percent (98%) with the best aggregate of fifteen (15). The second batch managed to beat-down the previous best aggregate of fifteen (15) to thirteen (13) and the overall percentage of ninety-nine (99%) in SSSCE. A second year student won a scholarship in Youth Exchange programme to study in U.S.A. in 2007 and returned to complete in 2008.
T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior Secondary Schoo,l Wa, performs creditably in co-curriculum activities among other secondary schools in the Region. In Mathematics and Science quiz, Football and Athletics, Though young, she is always a school to reckon with.
The schools currently have a strong sister-school, relation with a Belgium school call Vriendschapsverdrag in leper. Our Ahmadi brothers abroad have assisted the school with computers and cabinets and the Wa Central M.P. have renovated a four-classroom block for the school. The Wa Municipal Assembly donated a 30 colour Television set to the school.
Currently the school is the champion of the inter-zonal Milo games competition.
N.G.O COLLABORATION
The school enjoys a sponsorship scheme from three N.G.Os in the region: Plan Ghana Sponsors ten (10) students, Lassia Tuolu Parish Child Care sponsors 53 student and World Vision sponsors’ three (3) students in the school.
