Akumfi Ameyaw senior High school exists to provide all round educational opportunities to the youth within the Techiman Municipality and beyond, taking into consideration individual capabilities, interest and talents, so as to make them useful citizens in future.

- BRIEF HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL
The school was established as a Community Private Day Secondary School on 7th November 1988, and named ASUOGYAMAN SECONDARY SCHOOL. It is located at Aworowa in the Techiman Municipality.
The students’ population then was 107. The school relied on Part –Time tutors from Techiman Secondary School and voluntary teachers within the community to form the teaching staff.
Mr. Yaw Afari Ankomah voluntarily offered to be the Headmaster of the school pending its absorption into the public system. The school was officially inaugurated in April 1989 with Registration No. P.A./81/88. The following persons formed the first Board of Governors of the school: Mr. Bediako Poku (Chairman), Mr Thomas Ahimah, Ms Theresa Fofie, Mr. S.Y. Asiamah, Mr. Paul K. Sarfo, Mr Afena Diawuo, Mr. S.Y. Effah, Mr. S.A Yeboah, Mr.Adonten Poku. Mr. K.A. Marnu and Mr. Joseph Munufie.
With the inception of the Senior Secondary School system in 1990/91 academic year, the school was absorbed into the public system and named Asuogyaman Secondary Technical School to reflect the course content. Originally, the school offered courses in Agriculture, Technical and Vocational Education.
On 21st August 1991, Mr. Isaac Antwi-Boasiako took over the administration of the school as the Acting Headmaster. He was later confirmed as substantive head of the school until 30th September 2002.
Miss Mary B. Kwakye acted as Headmistress of the school until 19th March 2003 when the present Headmaster took over as substantive head of the school.
On 18th August 2005, approval was given for the school to operate the Boarding System. On 30th April 2007, the name of the school was changed to AKUMFI AMEYAW SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL.
In 2004/2005 academic year the school benefited from an up-grading programme for selected second cycle institutions in the country. Presently, there are over 1000 students in the school.
The school is operating BOARDING and DAY system. There are two storey buildings for the students, one is Boys’ Dormitory and one is Girls’ Dormitory. We have electricity, good road network but inadequate water System, temporal structures for Dining Hall and kitchen.

CULTURAL: 2009: The school represented Zone D during the Super Zonal Drama Festival at Drobo Senior High School
- SCHOOL FACILITIES (ACADEMIC)
There are thirty classrooms for teaching and learning processes, one computer Laboratory, One Science Laboratory, Technical Workshop section of which houses the Home Economics Department for
Practical work and Library, Assembly Hall, Administration Block, Uncompleted Sick Bay, Seven Government Bungalows and Six Bungalows put up by P.T.A.. The library is not well equipped and inadequate textbooks.
There is no recreational ground for the school at times uses the nearby Junior High grounds.
