BATTOR SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

The vision is to develop a model school of excellence in the community.

2. MISSION:

To provide relevant academic discipline to Junior High Schools (JHS) graduates to enable them acquire skills that will assist them to develop their potentials to facilitate poverty reduction and to promote socio-economic activities.

4. HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL:

In their efforts to improve upon the education in Battor Traditional Area, some public spirited citizens established Battor Secondary Commercial School at Battor Dugame in 1989 and ran it for almost seventeen (17) years.

In September 2006, this Community School was absorbed into the Public System of Education and it is now known and called Battor Senior High School.

Location:  Battor Senior High School is located at Battor Dugame, Avilordzogbe to be précised.  It is an hour drive from Accra.  It is located on a forty-eight acre (16.1 hecter) land.

Status:

Battor Senior High School is a day school with hostel facilities for Boys and Girls.  It has few classroom blocks which are woefully inadequate for ever increasing students population.

5. MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS:

Battor Senior High School rubs shoulders with her older sister Senior High Schools in both North Tongu and South Tongu in academic and in co-curricula activities.

In 2008 WASSCE, the school scored 85% and improved on its performance with 100% in 2009.

Students of the school always excel in sports and Games in the District and the Region.  Some even broke the existing records in the District and Region.

6. SCHOOL FACILITIES:

Academic:  There are few classrooms.

Non-Academic:  The school has a four hundred (400) metre oval field for athletics and other recreational activities.

7. ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES:

General Arts Programmes:-  Geography. Economics, Government, Ewe, Adangbe, Elective English and French language

Business Programme:- Financial Accounting, Business Management, Economics and Principle of Costing.  The Core subjects are also ran in the school.

8. CO-CURRICULA ACTIVITIES:

The school undertakes tree planting, Town cleaning exercise, sports and games, inter-school debates, and quizzes.

9. STAKEHOLDERS:

OLD STUDENTS:  In private for a very long time, the old students Association is not very vibrant.

P.T.A:   This is very active and contributing effectively towards the development of the school.  It has renovated one of the defunct New Century Teacher Training College classrooms as Girls Dormitory. It also demarcated the school land boundary.

TRADITIONAL AUTHORITY:  Its impact is not much felt likewise the District Assembly.
