BAWKU TECHNICAL INSTITUTE
- HISTORY
Bawku Technical institute was established by the Roman Catholic Mission in 1967 to provide Technical Education to the youth in Northern Ghana. It was the first Technical Institute in the then upper Region. The Government of Ghana took over the Institute in 1973 under the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service (GES).
The Institute is located in Bawku, the capital of Bawku Municipality along the Bolgatanga – Bawku high way to the left. It shares boundary with Bawku Senior High School to the west.

The Institute runs Eight (8) programmes as listed below:
- Electrical Installation Works
- Motor Vehicle Mechanic Works
- Blocklaying and Concreting Craft
- Mechanical Engineering Craft Practice
- Plumbing Craft
- Carpentry and Joinery Craft
- Intermediate Fashion and Designing
- Painting and Decorating Craft
The Institute has also put in place plans to start Business Studies Programme in 2010/2011 Academic year.
- STATUS OF THE INSTITUTE
The Institute is a mixed Institute (Boys and Girls) and has full boarding status. However, some students are offered day status under special conditions.

The Institute has no dispensary.Health issues are howover handled by the Health, Physical Education Recreation and Sports (HPERS) Department of the insitute.

The Institute has a Guidance and Counseling Office, Mr Jacob Felli is currently the Officer in charge.
