4. BRIEF HISTORY OF THE INSTITUTION

Daboase Senior High Technical School was one of the community school established in the early 1990s.  The School was established on 28^th January 1991 to give practical skills to students in agriculture, Technical Education and Home Economics.  It started with five (5) students made up of two (2) boys and three (3) girls and by May 1991 the number had increased to forty six (46).  The enrolment is now over four hundred and fifty (450).

It is day school with hostel facilities.

The school is located at Daboase, the District Capital of Mpohor Wassa East District in the Western Region.

5. MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS OVER THE YEARS

Since 2005 the performance of candidates in the final examination keeps on improving.  Each year some of the candidates qualify to enter the universities and other tertiary institutions.  From its humble beginning the school has been able to turn out men and women who are occupying important positions in the society.

Classrooms:

The school has only nine (9) permanent classrooms a carpentry workshop and one room for Home Economics Department.

Laboratories:

The school has a Science Resource Centre.

Library

The library can take only forty (40) students at a time.

Recreational Ground:

The school has its own recreational ground or playing grounds.

7. ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES

The school offers five programmes namely General Arts, Science, Agriculture, Home Economics and Technical.

General Arts : Government, Economics, Geography, Elective Mathematics,  Literature in English.

General Science Programme: Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Elective Mathematics.

 Agriculture Programme: General Agriculture, Horticulture, Chemistry and Physics.

Home Economics Programme: Foods and Nutrition, Management in Living, General knowledge in Art and Biology.

Technical Programme :  Technical Drawing, Building Construction, Physics and Woodwork or Elective Mathematics.

It is only the PTA that is assisting the school.
