- A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL
Jim Bourton Memorial Agricultural Senior High school, Logba was established on 11th October, 1979 by the Logba Youth Association and named Logba Agricultural Secondary School (LASEC).The initial school population was thirty students which comprised twenty boys and ten girls. The school was renamed Jim Bourton Memorial Agricultural Secondary School after the late Mr. Jim Bourton, a Canadian University Organization Volunteer, who joined the Teaching Staff on 14th April, 1983 and later, on 30th April, 1984 became the Headmaster. He met his untimely death and was buried in front of the school’s Administration block on 18th February, 1994.
Logba Agricultural Secondary School was absorbed into the Public System in January, 1992.
In October, 1996 the school was renamed Jim Bourton Memorial Agricultural Secondary School in appreciation of the good work and sacrifices of the late Jim Bourton.
With the implementation of Ghana’s recent Education Reforms which began in September, 2007, the school is now known as Jim Bourton Memorial Agricultural Senior High School.
Jim Bourton Memorial Agricultural Senior High School started a historic Boarding system on13th January, 2008, with an initial number of five students and a kitchen staff of two women on the first day.
The Boarding population increased to 103 students and three kitchen staff by the end on the 2nd term in which the boarding system was started.

- SCHOOL FACILITIES:
Academic
(a) A 3- unit classroom block to ease the classroom problems due to increasing student intake was built by the P. T. A.
(b) A 10 seater KVIP for former hostel, now boarding house. This was built by the Hohoe Municipal Assembly for the school.
(c) GETFund Computer cum Library Building: – This was constructed by Messrs John Makol Company Limited. P. O. Box AW.5, Anloga. Contract Number VR. 010/2004. This facility however, lacks furnishing and computers.
(d) A new block for Vocational Department is still at the foundation level. The project is being sponsored by the M.P. and Volta Regional Minister and the P. T. A. Contact the M.P. for further assistance to the P.T.A. to complete the project.
(e) A new temporary Dining Hall and Kitchen has been built by the school to start the Boarding System.

- CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES: –
Co-curricular activities in the school normally revolve around sports and games culture and art, debates and quizzes. The state of the various disciplines had a lot of praise for the school in the region. The sports and games is normally organized on inter-house basis and teams are selected in the field of athletics (field and track events), football (boys and girls), volley ball (boys and girls) and table tennis (boys and girls). Every year the school normally boasts of ten to fifteen sports boys and girls that represent the northern zone in the Volta Region. The boys football team is normally referred to as giant killers since any team that came into contact with the team had a story to tell.
Art and culture is normally school based where the school present students for choral, sight reading, drama, dance and poetry recital. Prominent among the achievement is when the school participated in the studrafest where they placed. The school had a seasoned poet who normally prepares students for such events. In the field of debate and quizzes, the school has debating club and civic clubs which represent the school in those competitions. Also religiously, the school has a very vibrant scripture union which caters for the spiritual needs of the students. Also entertainment form part of the school activities. It is normally in the form of variety shows, video shows, quizzes, debates and dance (foreign and indigenous)

There is a dynamic Parent Teacher Association which operates under the chairmanship of Togbe Nicholas Adanti.

This association exists in the school. It is, however, not as active is one would expect such an important association to be.
