KPASSA SENIOR HIGH TECHNICAL SCHOOL
- VISION:
The adopted vision for Kpassa Senior High Technical School is:
“To build a Senior High Technical School in a conducive academic environment using qualified and a well motivated staff to produce:Students
(a) with high moral values and discipline.
(b) with high academic performance and achievement
(c) who would qualify to higher academic levels, after which they would serve their community, Ghana and the world at a large”
- MISSION:
Kpassa Senior High Technical school shall be one of the best second cycle institution in the Volta Region, in the training and education of students in General Arts, Business, Vocation Science, Technical and Agriculture programmes respectively.
- SCHOOL CREST (Refer to picture)
The school’s crest comprises a ruler, a pencil and a pair of compasses at the top half, with the sun shining on an open book inside the other half. Below there is a white Dove flying in the sky, against a blue background.
Motto: The school’s motto is “Peace and Perseverance”.
- BRIEF HISTORY
Kpassa Senior High Technical School was established in 1993, as an answer to Government’s policy of bringing education to the door steps of the people and to reduce illiteracy.
The school was formally opened on 15th February, 1993 with a student’s population of ninety (90) and six Tutors. Today in 2010 the student population is six hundred and over (604) and with a teaching staff of Sixteen (16).
Status: The school runs a hostel system.
Location Of School: The school is at Kpassa, a town in the Nkwanta North District in the Volta Region.it is located by the Lorry Road [running through the Kpassa town from Nkwanta to the North]and in the North Western part of the town. It is opposite to the present offices of the Nkwanta North District Education Office.
Important School Dates: The school celebrates founders Day once in every two years.
- MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS OVER THE YEARS
Examination Results:
Despite of the teething problems of the school, the “SSSCE” and “WASSCE” results have been very encouraging.
Every year quite an appreciable numbers of students qualify for admission into the University and other Tertiary institutions.
Games:
Kpassa Senior High Technical School is doing very well in games, especially soccer.
The schools, in the last inter school competitions gallantly defeated any other school in boys soccer.
- SCHOOL FACILITIES
(a) Classrooms: The school has twMo classroom blocks which have a total of ten (10) classrooms
(b) There is a library.
(c) There are two science laboratories.
(d) There is a workshop for technical practicals.
Recreational Grounds:
(a) There is a big football field and volley ball pitch
(b) There is a Garden full of shady trees where students relax and read.
- ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES:
Kpassa Senior High Technical School offers three programmes, namely
(a) General Arts
(b) Technical and
(c) Agriculture.
Plans are being made for the introduction of new programmes.
These are, Business and Vocational Skills.
- CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
The following co-curricular activities exist in the school:
Sports and Games, Debating club, Subject Associations, Excursions (Field Trips), Scripture Union/Sunday Services, Saturday Entertainment and school choir,
- STAKEHOLDERS
(a) Parent – Teacher Association (P.T.A.)
The Kpassa SHTS PTA is very active and has complemented other stakeholders favourably in the development of the school.
(a) The classroom furniture in the school have all been provided by the PTA.
(b) P.T.A. over the years have assisted the school to maintain the school Vehicles.
(c) P.T.A. have also sponsored sporting activities culture activities, workshops etc.
(d) P.T.A. have also assisted the school in the provision of sanitary facilities, among others.
District Assembly:
The Kpassa Senior High Technical School is the only second cycle institution in the newly created Nkwanta North District Assembly. Consequently, the school has an advantage to benefit immensely from the assembly. So far the following can be accredited to the assembly.
(a) The Assembly has constructed a kitchen for the school in preparation towards the boardinisation of the school.
(b) Rehabilitation of the Assistant Headmaster’s bungalow which was ripped off by a storm.
(c) The Assembly has promised to donate some sporting equipment valued at (GH¢480.00) Four Eighty Ghana Cedis to the school.
(d) The Assembly has also provided for the school one computer for administrative duties.
Traditional Authority:
The traditional authority has helped the school to go far. Under the leadership of Ubore Tiwayo Konja III, a two – kilometer square tract (2 km2 ) of land was released to the government for the establishment of the school.
Others
- The Bremen Mission in Germany put up two staff bungalows, an assembly Hall, and a library for the school.
- The World Vision International complemented this with the provision of two hostel blocks to accommodate the girls and the boys in the school.
