KUKUOM AGRICULTURAL SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

1. BRIEF HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL

Kukuom Agricultural Senior High School has been sited at Kukuom in the Brong Ahafo Region where Cocoa production is at its peak. Not only is cocoa produced on large scale, but also other agricultural produce like timber food crops especially plantain are obtained in large quantities. Thus, it is right and appropriate that, an Agricultural Senior High School be built in this district to increase the agricultural tempo so as to push forward the Ghana Agricultural Revolution which is currently throughout the length and breath of the country.

In line with the Government policy on Agriculture the people of Kukuom pledged themselves to assist the government in no small measure by forming the Kukuom Town Development Committee to finance this Agricultural Senior High School.  The school was opened on the 20^th September, 1976 with 21 students, on the following day the number increased to 46. The school was initially run by the Kukuom Educational Trust from a trust fund supervised by trustees. Owing to the importance and special role which this institution will play the government of Ghana took over and absorbed it into the Government assisted schools on 29^th September, 1978.

Location

The school is in Kukuom in Brong Ahafo Region about 123 kilometers South of Sunyani and about 130 kilometers West of Kumasi. It is sited two kilometers off Kukuom Babiani road.

Status of the school: The School offers both Day and Boarding facilities

The school is a beneficially of the development of Senior Secondary Education project (DSSEP). The project consists of the construction of the following new facilities.
