4. BRIEF HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL:
The Presbyterian Senior High School located at Mampong Akuapem in the Eastern Region was established under the government Educational Reforms Programme (ERP) which phased out the Middle School system. With this new system, the Presby Middle Girls’ and Middle Boys’ schools merged to form the Presbyterian Junior High School in the late 80’s.
With the structures of the Girls’ school becoming vacant, Mr. Edward T. Bowser, an American used the place for a private Polytechnic by name Mampong Akuapem Polytechnic Institute (MAPI) which collapsed in 1990.
The Presbyterian Church at Mampong under the Senior Presbytership of Mrs. Rosina Oku Ampofo (of blessed memory) thought it wise to use the building to run a secondary school. Applications were tendered in for its approval in 1991 and its absorption into the public educational system in 1992.
