- BRIEF HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL
Queen of Peace Senior High School is one of the young schools in the Region which was opened in the Nadowli District Capital on 29th January, 1999.
The school started off with a population of 76 students, 45 boys and 31 girls.
The commencement of the school was an exciting event in the history of the area because unlike the other District Capitals in Ghana, Nadowli has been deprived of Senior High School facilities. This became a pressing issue when the community observed that the two older Senior High Schools in the District: Daffiama and Kaleo Senior High Schools were Day Schools and offered no boarding facilities. The community was emphatic on its demand for at least some boarding facilities for the girls while the boys resided in town.
In those days the ban on opening more Government – sponsored senior secondary schools was lifted to enable the District Assembly in collaboration with the Catholic Church and other stakeholders to establish the school. This joint venture between the Catholic Church the Nadowli District Education Service obviously brought the Nadowli District Capital in line with other District Capitals in the country.
Since then, the community had great confidence in the management capabilities of the Catholic Church and had been particularly gratified by the involvement of the Priests and Religious in the Administration and the supervision in the school up to – date.
The District Education Directorate also played a vital role at the initial opening of the school by providing the new school with stationery and some basic equipment to facilitate the commencement of the school. Professional guidance was also provided by the then District Director in the person of Late Mrs. Elizabeth Mwinkaar to the pioneer teaching staff.
