TAMALE ISLAMIC SENIOR HIGH  SCHOOL

1. VISION

The vision of the school is to provide quality formal education to BECE graduates who quality for and ensure that they have very sound academic, moral and physical admission and development and acquire skills to contribute their quota to national development.

2. MISSION

The mission of the school is to appoint and maintain qualified, competent and devoted staff and admit BECE education delivery with the view to achieving academic excellence, high level of discipline and good morals, excellence in sports and games as well as good sanitation.

3. SCHOOL CREST AND MOTTO:

Motto “Knowledge, Supplication to God and Service to Mankind”

The crest has in the background a crescent of the moon and the star depicting the Islamic nature of the school.  Other features include a microscope, on engine, maize plant and a book depicting the school as a science biased institution.

4. BRIEF HISTORY OF THE INSTITUION

The school was established on 24^th March, 1997.  The Islamic Development Bank (IDS), Jeddah, Saudi Arabia provided funds for the establishment of the school to providing Science Education at Senior High School level, for the Muslim Ummah (Community)

The school started as a private institution, managed by an interim management Board with Dr. Abubakari Alhassan as the Chairman.  The became a boarding school in September, 2007.

5. MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS OVER THE YEARS

SSSCE and WASSCE results for the year 2000 and 2009.  The school has between the year 2000 and 20009 turned out three thousand and thirteen (3013) young men and women.  Though still young, some of them are already working in various capacities, while others are pursuing advanced courses.

The school has also produced a number of sportsmen who have earned national recognition.  Miss Musah Naziha of GHATEL Ladies in Tamale is currently in the Black Queens camp.  Mohammed Adam is also of Term Real Sportive.

The school was also judged as having the best cadet corps during the 53^rd Independence Anniversary Parade.

Old Students Association: –

The school has a vibrant old students Association.  They organize games and clean up campaigns, talk shows for students.  Visit by old students is frequents to acquaint themselves with activities in the school.

Traditional Authorities: –

There is harmonious relationship between the school and the traditional authorities.  They are also invited to school activities such as Speech and Prize Giving Days and sporting Activities.

Metropolitan Assembly: –

The school is always in constant touch with the Metropolitan Assemble.  For example, the Assembly renovated part of the classroom block when rain storm affected the school in 2007.
