TUMU SENIOR HIGH/TECHNICAL SCHOOL
- VISION
To produce academically and technically sound future leaders who are morally upright and self disciplined with relevant talents and skills to meet the needs of the nation and the economic development of Africa.
- MISSION STATEMENT
Our mission is to provide an enabling environment for teaching and learning for the acquisition of practical knowledge and experience in technical vocational and agricultural skills, we aspire to ensure the overall development of self-reliant students in moral, cultural, physical and leadership spheres in life.
- BRIEF HISTORY
Tumu Secondary/Technical School is one of the new Secondary Technical Schools opened in 1991 under Ghana Education Reform Programme aimed at reducing the number of years of Pre-University education from seventeen (17) years to twelve (12) years also intended to increasing access to education and making the curricular more relevant to the needs of the individual and the country as a whole.
Largely because of cost effectiveness, these schools including Tumu Senior High / Technical School are made to operate as day schools to absorbed (Junior High School pupils from the surrounding villages and other districts very adjacent.
The school run three (3) programmes like Agriculture, Technical and Home Economics which are practical oriented to prepare the students for the world of work or job market.
- SCHOOL INFRASTRUCTURE
The school inherited the premises of the then Tumu Middle Day school with a six-unit classroom Block a two-unit classroom block, two-unit community supported classroom blocks, Science room, a block comprising the typing room, stores and a small staff room now converted to the Library.
STAFF ACCOMMODATION
Two (2)-room quarters were inherited from middle day and five master’s bungalows later added to them. This inadequate housing facility makes it very difficult to accommodate staff on campus.
The school is therefore handicapped in terms of an administrative block, an assembly hall a dinning hall an I.C.T. centre a Science laboratory, a library block, a Kitchen block, Staff accommodation and additional three classroom block to handle the four (4) year programme.
HOSTEL FACILITY
The school has a three unit hostel block for girls put up by the District Assembly and another three unit block for boys also built by the Parent Teachers Association
There are currently two (2)- storey dormitory block projects on-going under the GET-Fund sponsorship. The school was up graded to a boarding status in September, 2009.

- BRIEF HISTORY
The school was founded on 1st January, 1991, and located located at Ullo along the Lawra Hain trunk road and is about 19km from Jirapa.
Ullo Senior High School has a Boarding Status, and enjoys government scholarship for students of Northern background in feeding grants.
A one-storey dormitory block for boys is under construction and a similar one for girls is absolutely a necessity.
- MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS OVER THE YEARS
The school has performed creditably over the years in both SSCE and WASSCE conducted by the West Africa Examinations Council. Our graduates are found in all endeavors of life including Academic, Politics, Civil Services public Services etc.
- SCHOOL FACILITIES
Academic
CLASSROOMS: There is enough classroom accommodation for students up to Senior High Four through some classroom blocks will need major rehabilitation.
LABORATORIES: The school has a workshop block which has been converted in to a science and agriculture laboratory.
LIBRARY: The school has a large and spacious library with seating capacity of 60 students at a time. .
Non-Academic:
The school has an enviably large ground for football and athletics which can be developed into a sports facility.

- CURRICULA ACTIVITIES
Ullo Senior High School does not only lay emphasis on academic excellence but stresses on a whole human development. The school has games period fully observed by all students. There is a well structured entertainment calendar which incorporates cultural dances, debates and Drama all year round.
- STAKE HOLDERS
Old Students
One of The stakeholders in the school set up is old students. They offer Suggestions and undertake projects such as building urinals for students.
Parent-Teacher Association (PTA)
The PT A of Ullo Senior High School is very supportive. It is one of the major stakeholders that undertake projects ranging from classroom furniture, bunk beds and several other supportive projects for the school.
Traditional Authority:
Ullo Senior High school is found within a community, where there is healthy relationship between the school and traditional authority. They have on a number of occasions counseled students regarding practices such as occultism and witchcraft
District Assembly:
The Jirapa District Assembly has its own ways of lending a helping hand to the school. It has helped in putting up a few infrastructures in the school through central government funding and the Regional coordinating council.
The Member of Parliament has also distinguished him self through projects like kitchen and provision of computer and its accessories and a photocopier machine which have helped the school enormously to its present state.
