- BRIEF HISTORY OF INSTITUTION
NAME: Wa Senior High Technical School
YEAR OF ESTABLISHMENT
Established as a Community Meddle Day School in the 1950S. It became a Junior Secondary School in 1978 later turned to a Community Secondary Technical in 1982. The school was formally opened on 30th March, 1983 as a Community Day Secondary Technical School still in the same premises. With the inception of the 2004 educational reforms the name of the institution became Wa Senior High Technical School.
LOCATION
The school is located in Wa Municipality in the heart of Wa town. It is opposite Upper West Regional Hospital on the Wa – Kumasi road.

STATUS
The school is currently a day school but runs the Hostel system
- MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS OVER THE YEARS
Academically there has been a tremendous improvement in the students’ performance in the WASSCE over the past five years. The school has recorded a 100% overall passes consecutively with the best aggregate ranging between 15 and 17.
The school has always registered a 100% pass in French.
The school participates in Regional and National French competitions every year and has always been placed among the first three. For instance in 2009 a student from the school, Vitals Deberu performed creditably in the Regional and National French competitions for Senior High Schools. For his award he was granted a week stay in Lome, Togo besides other prizes he received both for himself and the school.
SPORTS AND GAMES
The school tall among its colleagues in inter-schools activities. A good number of students from this institution usually make it to National level in Sport. This paves the way for some of them to join the Ghana Armed Forces.
